I have a love-hate with IKEA. I get antsy and buy a bunch of stuff at IKEA instead of saving for something nice, and then I look around and think...well that was a waste of money.
However, I'm back to love right now. And not in the "I'm going to go on the home tour in the store and come out with so much shit I don't know what to do with" love.
It's more the "I think you got the (few and specific) things I need" kinda love.
As the house...slooowwwlllyyy, ssoooo slllloowwlllyyy starts coming together, I am more convinced that I want it light, open, comfortable, and not cluttered - whites and light woods with the crazy coming from black and white stripes, tropical wallpaper, and leopard wherever I can put it.
And as I stare at the dark (and beautiful) West Elm media console we bought a few years ago, I think of the pictures I can post on Craigslist selling it because it is too dark for where I want to be. And on the other side of the fireplace, the white Ikea KALLAX bookshelves I put to get out of the way look....kinda perfect.
So I'm selling the piece that cost me over $1100 for something that will probably cost me $80. And I am going to buy these totally generic-yet-perfect IKEA BRANAS storage baskets for them until Steele Canvas gets their act together and starts making some canvas bins that work for these dimensions (talking to YOU Steele Canvas - GET IT TOGETHER).
