Captain’s bathroom - the room that was supposed to be the easiest room is now on version three. The cement tiles from Cle that I loved so much came at a major warning from my contractor - chipping.
So that’s a no.
Then I found the most beautiful scalloped tile from Mercury Mosaics - dying over the bluegrass color - just thinking of the shower covered in these tiles, bathing in a jewel box.
Then we found out that supplies alone for our jewel box haven would cost $5,000. (To put that in perspective, because I needed one, to tile the same space in subway tile the supplies would be $800.) So it’s a meaningful amount of money to ponder.
On to idea #3. Keep the dream Morroccan tile alive, with a tweak. The shower would become subway tile with the gold grout - moving the bluegrass beauties to the back wall where the vanity will be. The bathroom would still keep that pop but the square footage would be close to a third less from a supply standpoint. In that idea, the only thing I would change is going from a statement gold mirror to a infinity mirror with a hint of the gold edging - keeping the focus on the back tile with the warmth of the metal.
